Forget spring- it's SUMMER!

My boys declared it warm enough to play in the sprinklers.......but was it really? No way! It was only 50 degrees! Grant was smart enough not to get wet but Clark and Spencer went all out. They lasted about 10 minutes, then we retreated inside for some hot chocolate.

We had a ninja party to celebrate Spencer's 5th birthday.

Scott did the ninja skills training

The birthday cake was very fearsome.

But he was no match against our elite 5 year old ninja force.

True Story

Spencer was out playing on his scooter. It was chilly, but he has embraced spring and is not going back, so he was out in his flip flops and short sleeves. The police drive down the street and slow down as they approach the house. They pull up and talked to Jen.

"We got a report that there was a little boy outside without a jacket"

"Yeah, he thinks it's spring.- Hey Spencer are you cold?"

"No, I'm OK."

Apparently Spencer is tougher than most Iowans- and that is saying a lot.

You'll probably notice that there are no children in these photos. That's right Jen and I took a vacation without the kids. They had a great week with Grandma and Grandpa.

We made a trip to the Grand Canyon, which was Scott's first time and worth the drive.

In Phoenix we took very fun tour on Segway around South Mountain Park. Our tour guide, Marvin, was great.

We spent some time in the Superstition Mountains. This hike actually started in the dry desert, but as we kept going up, the terrain changed considerably. This was six-shooter canyon.

It was a great week.
